The Challenge
Zanzibar is experiencing rapid tourism growth requiring adequate infrastructure, while maintaining balance between economic development, environmental preservation and respect for Swahili cultural traditions.
The Solution
Development of a masterplan integrating contemporary architecture with traditional Zanzibari elements, exclusive use of renewable energy, sustainable water management systems and involvement of local communities in project governance.
The Results
Creation of a replicable sustainable tourism development model, with over 2,000 direct jobs, enhancement of local cultural heritage and minimized environmental impact through international sustainability certifications.
