Agro-industrial project to create a center of excellence for cocoa production and processing in the Mayombe region, Democratic Republic of Congo. The initiative aims to revive the historic Congolese cocoa tradition. Project components: - Cocoa plantations on 10,000 hectares - Varietal research and development center - Fermentation and drying facility - Primary processing plant - Training of 5,000 farmers
The Challenge
The DRC possesses a unique genetic heritage of fine-flavor cocoa varieties but production has collapsed in recent decades due to instability, lack of infrastructure and outdated technical know-how.
The Solution
Development of an integrated supply chain from varietal selection to primary processing, with an outgrower scheme model involving thousands of small farmers, ensuring premium quality through continuous technical assistance.
The Results
Positioning of Congolese cocoa in the premium segment of the world market, creation of 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, 300% increase in farmer income and significant contribution to national exports.
