Women Empowerment in Tourism and Fashion
Training and professional development program dedicated to Kenyan women in the tourism and fashion sectors. The project aims to create sustainable economic opportunities through the enhancement of traditional artisan skills and integration into the international tourism market. Program components: - Professional training in hospitality and design - Tailoring and textile production workshops - Creation of women's cooperatives - Access to international markets - Mentorship and entrepreneurial support
The Challenge
In Kenya, women face significant barriers to accessing professional education and economic opportunities, with high female unemployment rates and limited access to credit and markets.
The Solution
Creation of a support ecosystem that includes technical training, access to financing, mentorship and connections with international buyers. The model integrates local artisan traditions with quality standards required by international markets.
The Results
Training of over 500 women in professional skills, creation of 10 active women's cooperatives, 150% increase in average income of participants and inclusion of Kenyan artisan products in European commercial circuits.
