Benin, formerly Dahomey, is a stable democracy in West Africa with one of the fastest growing economies in the region (7.5% in 2024). The country is an important commercial hub thanks to the Port of Cotonou which serves Nigeria, Niger, Burkina Faso and other landlocked countries. The economy is based on cotton, cashews, transit trade and the new Glo-Djigbé industrial zone which is attracting manufacturing investments.
